The Feast of the Gods (Italian: Il festino degli dei) is an oil painting by the Italian Renaissance master Giovanni Bellini, with substantial additions to the landscape in stages by Dosso Dossi and Titian, who added all the landscape to the left and is one of the few mythological pictures by the Venetian artist.

Completed init was his last major : Giovanni Bellini. A ROUNDthe Duke of Ferrara commissioned Giovanni Bellini to paint this masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance, which now hangs in the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

Dosso Dossi subsequently decorated a gallery for the Duke, and, inpainted over half of Bellini's canvas. Seven years later, Titian repainted the Feast of the Gods again.

In Feast of the Gods, a story by the Roman writer Ovid, an outdoor picnic is described where the Gods enjoy themselves in good spirited primal fashion. Bellini's revelers are a mixture of recognizable classical motifs, such as the satyr and the nymph carrying the vase on her head, and the gods of Olympus looking and behaving a bit like bawdy.

The Feast of the Gods was the first painting completed for Alfonso’s study and the last major work by Bellini, who was almost ninety years old when he finished it. When Bellini died two years later, Alfonso turned to Titian and to his own court artist, Dosso Dossi, to complete the studiolo decoration.

Bellini's "Feast of Gods" is probably the most important of the National Gallery's collection of artwork based upon Graeco-Roman mythology. The ancient source of this painting is the aetiological story found in Ovid's Fasti, I,concerned with why the Romans sacrificed an ass to Priapus, an ancient woodland and fertility deity.
